Turnagain Arm--Bird Point in center and center-right.  The Portage Glacier area is located to the right of the mountain supporting the hanging glacier. Early mining towns of Hope and Sunrise are to the right.  Girdwood and Alyeska Resort Complex are, generally, to the left of the mountain in the center of the photograph.  Anchorage is a few miles distant in the direction opposite to this view.  The Seward Highway parallels Turnagain Arm at the left.

Photos above and below show the bedrock exposures on Claim ADL 59481 resulting from highway reconstruction ending in 2000.  Utility poles shown in above photo support high voltage lines.  Low voltage local service lines are also on the property.

Putting The Area In Perspective

The early miners were supported, primarily, by pack animals and dog teams delivering supplies from Prince William Sound.  Materials from west coast ports were off-loaded near the present port of Whittier. Some supplies arrived overland from the port of Seward and at the height of mining activity, a true Alaska pioneer, Captain Lathrop, braved the extreme tides of Turnagain Arm with a small vessel and delivered goods to the Girdwood area and the ports of Hope and Sunrise.

Hit Counter

The asking price for the mineral rights to the two forty acre claims is $280,000.

A.E.I. has other interests and needs to sell these claims.  A serious buyer

will be allowed, in fact encouraged, to run a core drill test.  There is a readily accessible location

where a 20 foot core could easily be accomplished in one day.  That location is where 2860 pounds

of ore was removed in 1993. (As described on the Abstract page under "TEST RUN ON ORE".)

Inquiries are welcome.  The owner will entertain joint venture proposals by any entity

with a successful history of mining and/or tourism.
